Using EFT for Personal Development - A 5 Part Series
For the next 5 weeks I will be answering some key questions
on how to use EFT for personal development.
PART ONE
QUESTION: How have you used EFT for your own personal
development?
ANSWER: I've been practicing EFT for many years, and I began
to see the results I could assist people to achieve, helping them
advance in their own personal development. In my private practice, I've worked with numerous clients through the years and taught them
not just to use EFT as a treatment process in a more therapeutic setting,
but how to use it within their day-to-day lives, even as I started to
practice that myself. So I've really seen the power of EFT, not only
in my life, but in the lives of others.
I've used EFT regularly as I've pursued different goals and set my sights
on increasing my ability for success and in advancing my own sense
of who I am and my own esteem. I'll give you an example.
About five years ago, I challenged myself to run a marathon. I was
overwhelmed by the challenge. I thought it was a near impossibility
to run 26.2 miles, and it really brought up some fear and resistance;
I doubted that I could ever achieve that. Yet, deep down within my
being, I felt inspired to take on the challenge, even amidst my own
fears.
So, my husband and I engaged in an eight-month process of training
and preparing for our first marathon. I used EFT as I noticed my
limiting beliefs and fears about running, throughout my whole training
process.
As I increased my miles, I had a lot of different issues and limiting
beliefs come up, and would use EFT on a regular basis to collapse
those beliefs and to reframe and instill within me a sense of confidence
and capability.
As a result, I began to see my esteem and my sense of achievement,
the belief that I could achieve this, start to grow. Although I still felt a
bit iffy on the day of the marathon, I used EFT throughout the race as
different limitations or fears came up.
When I crossed the finish line of that first marathon, after
having run 26.2 miles, (while only eight months earlier,
believing it was next to impossible and having never run more
than five miles at a time in my life) it was honestly one of the
most spiritual epiphanies I've ever had, just that I was able to
show up and achieve that outcome that I had personally
developed the ability to succeed.
I truly saw the power of a tool like EFT, when used on a regular
basis, to assist us in advancing our level of achievement, to
reach goals that are set high, and to overcome challenges in
our day-to-day lives.
