6. Practitioners Corner
Keeping Your Clients from Sabotaging their Sessions with You!
A common manner a client may sabotage their sessions is to turn you into their mother or father and start recreating the patterns they had with either of their parents with you.

As they share the issues and patterns they have with their parents, make a mental note and notice if they subconsciously start recreating them with you. For example they may feel unsupported by their parents, so they turn that into not feeling supported by you, that you are only helping them because they are paying you.

Another common one is they may start to call you between sessions with emergency’s they want your help with and if you refuse them they will feel you are abandoning them.

A good way to deal with this is to be completely honest in a loving, supportive manner and to share with your client that they are starting to act out the same patterns with you that they have with their parents.

As they see it and own, great strides can be made in creating a truly healthy, caring, successful relationship with your client that will make a difference in the great results they start to create.
